SpaceX sends the 24th batch of Starlink satellites into space, launching 10 times this year

According to news on April 8, local time on Wednesday, the US space exploration technology company SpaceX used the "Seven-Hand" Falcon 9 rocket to put the 24th batch of 60 Starlink satellites into orbit, and then successfully recovered them at sea.

This is SpaceX's tenth orbital launch this year. According to this rhythm, the company is expected to achieve 40 launches this year. In these launches, most of the payload is SpaceX's own Starlink satellites, and the company is one step closer to achieving its original goal of deploying 1,440 satellites.

The booster number for the latest launch mission is B1058. It has been launched and recovered six times before. It is one of SpaceX's most orbital boosters. The B1058 debuted in May last year and was SpaceX's first commercial rocket to send NASA astronauts to the International Space Station.

After that, the B1058 booster was launched for the second time in July 2020, sending South Korea’s ANSIS-II communications satellite into space. In December, it sent the upgraded cargo Dragon spacecraft to the International Space Station.

In January of this year, this booster made history again, becoming the booster that puts the most satellites into orbit in a single payload. In SpaceX's mini-satellite carpool mission named Transporter-1, 143 satellites were sent into space and set a new record. Finally, it also performed two successful Starlink satellite launch missions.

This mission is the 113th overall flight of the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket and the 59th launch of a second-hand refurbished booster. In fact, so far, all SpaceX launches in 2021 have used refurbished boosters.

In addition to boosters, SpaceX also used recovered fairings in this mission. The two fairings will be salvaged from the water by the new recovery ship Shelia Bordelon, and will be able to perform the mission again soon after being refurbished.

With the successful launch of the 24th batch of Starlink satellites, SpaceX has put more than 1,400 satellites into orbit, including some that are no longer in operation.

Starlink Internet service is currently still in the testing stage, and users in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany and New Zealand can all try it. SpaceX is accepting pre-orders in preparation for the full launch of commercial services later this year. (Little)
