On February 17, Amazon has acquired Selz, an Australian e-commerce service platform company. The tool software developed by Selz makes it easier for companies to launch their own online stores.

According to reports, Amazon quietly acquired the e-commerce service platform company on January 15, but it did not release information on the acquisition. However, Selz announced the transaction information in the company's official blog post.

Selz CEO and founder Martin Rush (martin rushe) said in the company’s official blog post, “We have signed an agreement on being acquired by Amazon. We look forward to working with them and continue to build easy The tool software used."

An Amazon spokesperson confirmed the acquisition, but the spokesperson declined to disclose the terms of the agreement. Representatives of Selz did not immediately respond to media requests for comment.

In recent months, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos (Jeff Bezos) has been following Canadian e-commerce software developer Shopify. Shopify is a one-stop SaaS e-commerce service platform that provides e-commerce sellers with technology and templates for building online stores, and manages omni-channel marketing, sales, payment, logistics and other services. As a competitor of Selz, Shopify's business has grown dramatically during the pandemic of the new crown virus.

Amazon previously also provided a service similar to Shopify, called Amazon WebStore, allowing small businesses to operate online stores based on Amazon technology. But in 2015, Amazon closed Amazon WebStore.

At the time of the acquisition of Selz, the number of sellers on Amazon's e-commerce platform had exceeded 2.5 million and it was still booming. The Amazon e-commerce platform for third-party sellers has brought record revenue to Amazon, contributing more than half of Amazon's e-commerce business revenue.

Providing more tools and software services for small and medium-sized enterprises can promote online sales more quickly, which will give Amazon a competitive advantage in the face of Shopify and the e-commerce software company BigCommerce.

Selz was founded in 2013 and is headquartered in Sydney, Australia. The platform services provided by the company allow small and medium-sized enterprises to launch their own online stores and provide online payment options. According to the employment agency social network LinkedIn, Selz currently employs less than 50 people.

Rush stated in the company's official blog post that Selz customers were not affected by Amazon's acquisition. (Tianmen Mountain)
